The Tribe Has Spoken

So, My Gazelle and I have been discussing my hair for about 3 months now. I mean, we talk about other things...but I've done a lot of talking about my hair.

It's curly. I straighten it. It's fluffy. I weigh it down. I'm sick of it. I've battled curly hair my entire life, and have come to terms with the fact that my life will always include a hot air brush and a flat iron. I'm ok with that.

What I'm not ok with is the size of my ginormous head. My head is abnormally large. I attribute it to additional brains in my cranium, but that's probably just my way of making myself feel better about the fact that the circumference of my head rivals that of an adult gorilla.

This is only exacerbated by the fact that I haven't had a haircut in...oh...4 months. And prior to my last haircut, I was "trying to let it grow out" for some strange reason. This means that the last hair cut I had might have taken off about 1/2" or less. Big deal.

Ginormous head + frizzy, grown-out haircut = self-esteem disaster.

A girl just needs a fabulous haircut.

Technology is a lovely thing. I just visited www.taaz.com, and they let me upload my very own picture for free, then stick their haircuts on top of my virtual head. So, with much ado, I've decided to chop it off and get a neat, cute, shorter haircut.

This one. But ignore the puff of my own hair that is sticking up in the back since I was too lazy to properly pull my frizzy mess back like the instructions told me to. I don't really follow instructions very well. Clearly.

So, anyway...as I was saying...THIS one.

It makes my head look smaller, no?

  1. I like it. You will be amazed at what a good cut will do for your big head.

    Sincerely,
    Another big headed girl

  2. I like it, but isn't pulling a sleek, short bob out of fluffy, curly hair a lot like pulling a rabbit out of a hat? Just sayin'.

I too am blessed with a big head and fluffy, frizzy hair. They NEVER believe me when I buy a motorcycle helmet and ask for the large. They hand me a small and then a medium and watch as I contort my face unnaturally trying to show them IT WON'T FIT!

Anyway, this lady opened a shop in town. She is the curly hair lady! She specializes in curly hair. Her methods are genius. Here is a book I bought that she had on hand: http://tinyurl.com/7smwmh

So my hair life has changed over the last few months. I have a friend with MASSIVE really curly hair and her hair life has changed too. It's a revolution! Haven't used my flat iron in 2 months!

I just got really excited there. Sorry. Good luck with your hair! Every girl needs to feel awesome about hair and it shouldn't be this damn hard!

  3. Oh no Amy...book link didn't work! =(

Well, I have actually had a similar haircut before--about 5 years ago I was able to do the short bob thing...so hopefully I can do it again. As long as its cut to taper down at the ends, I do ok. My hair is strange in that it is very curly when I let it be, but the texture allows me to also get it very sleek and straight without a lot of effort.

Unfortunately, I don't have a curly hair lady near me that I'm aware of. It's very frustrating because stylists just really don't understand the method to properly cut curly hair so that it actually looks good when its dry. I've had about 2 good "curly" cuts in my lifetime...before I started straightening it, I wore it up all the time.

And, the hair lady just called me to move my appointment up from 5:30 to 3:30...so now I have even less time to mentally prepare. Ack!

i'm currently growing out my old Victoria Beckham , shorter in the back and longer in the front and damn...it's taken me 6 months...

granted I change my color every time I go back to the hairdresser. not like i have commitment issues.

    so...go for it!

it's only hair and always grows back!

  5. I have the straightest hair on record, it won't even hold a perm (although honestly I haven't tried that for almost 20 years). BUT - your head does not look big in the above picture, so I guess that's a success! :)

  6. Welcome, Rebecca! I'm glad that you stumbled upon me!

I change my hair color all the time. It's almost like a hobby at this point. I'm a little less daring these days with the actual cut, though. I love Victoria Beckham's cut, but was way too chicken to do anything similar. We'll see how it all turns out.

If you guys don't hear from me again its because this new hair stylist gave me a mullet or some other God-awful hairdo. Fingers crossed...

  8. Hey! I left you a post here, but I don't see it? What's the deal.

I said I liked your new 'do and you don't have a big head. I swear. I really did say that. You're head's not that big. Hardly at all.

  9. Oh yeah, Sista...I totally got your "your head is not too too big" comment, it's just on the post with my before and after pix. You kill me.
